Writing Words - writing it is the only way of getting it written

October Writing Challenges

September 26th 2010 20:53
Get ready for NaNoWriMo by joining one of these October writing challenges:

October Warm-Up for NaNoWriMo
This is a NaNo forum thread for people who want to prepare for the real thing together. There's no wordcount goal - so you can set yourself a realistic goal yourself-, you can write anything you want and if you want some support, you'll find it in this thread.

750words.com October Challenge: 750 words a day
I mentioned 750words.com in the post on September writing challenges. It's a great online tool to get you into the habit of writing daily. The monthly challenge is another incentive for writers to keep coming back every day and write at least 750 words. If you just want to write anything to get used to writing several hundred words in one session, I'd recommend 750words.

GothNoWriMo: Write a Gothic Novel in October
This is a challenge for writers of gothic fiction. You can choose from five wordcount goals, so if you only want to write 20k as a warm-up for November, you can do that here. Your story has to have at least some gothic elements, though. Check the Wikipedia entry on gothic novels to find out more about the genre.
