NaNoWriMo Daily Inspiration: Donate

Write about a donation: either one your character makes and why or one a character receives.

There's a bit of a story behind this writing prompt:
Today is my 8th NaNoWriMo sign-up anniversary. I've made it a tradition to donate on November 8th because I know participating in NaNo every year has had lots of benefits for me. I'm grateful for that and the easiest way to express my gratitude is making a donation.
